For Agathe Saint-Girons, each piece of her creation, jewellery or sculpture, comes as a result of a story of life you discover as you adopt it. A creation for a word, a feeling for a shape. Europe and World prize of the international competition “World’s Best Jewellery Designer Rosa OKUBO-ALCATEL”, Sao Paulo, BRAZIL, 1999 1999 grant from the Culture Ministry, Paris Creates the ‘Jasmin’ prizes for the French Perfume Committee, Paris, 1998 “AFAA 1997” prize from the Foreign Business Ministry ARTISTIC INSPIRATION The human form is a natural source of inspiration for Agathe Saint Girons. Every possible angle of vision becomes a vector for creativity, whether subject or object, actor or observer, in fusion or in conflict. Many stories without end, like life itself. From the biological (fecondation, ovulation) to the psychological (the male/female polarity) each phase of her work jostles the next, alternating between the intensely personal and the universal, the same vision through the micro and macro ends of the instrument. "Don't let anything slip away," she says. Materials : Gold silver and platinum dominate in her work, conveying a subtlety of vision becomes a vector, deepened by the use of wood and steel, as well as gemstones for dramatic effect. And then there is the glass, bringing color, lightness, and transparency, everywhere present in her sculptures. Techniques : "How to hold and understand the unconscious folds, hidden feelings, the wanderings of the human spirit?" Agathe oscillates between the charged poles of positive and negative holding a delicate balance between knowledge and its counterpoint., using unusual combinations of materials to evoke her own inner explorations. From classic techniques to daring experimentation she reveals an artist breaking through form into moments of revelation. Time If time is a key to all human relations Agathe Saint Girons is obsessed by what it could lead to. She might imprison a gem within a transparent crystal shell, meant to broken by its owner , contrasting permanence and fragility, the ephemeral and the eternal. Other pieces, like the alphabet rings in her Kalligraphia collection are meant to stay contained and immutable. Wasting time, or letting it pass by, taking time or using it, all ways of finding both humor and wisdom. |
